ADMIRAL Bundesliga Matchday 9 Reviews
RZ Pellets WAC 0-2 FC Red Bull Salzburg
FC Red Bull Salzburg continued their 100% winning start to the ADMIRAL Bundesliga season with a professional victory in Carinthia. Jerome Onguene’s 15th minute header - his 10th goal for the Red Bulls (nine from corners) - put the champions on course early. The hosts battled hard as the impressive Thorsten Rocher in his 150th Admiral Bundesliga game hit the woodwork after a great move. However, the task became harder for WAC after David Gugganig was dismissed just before the break for a second yellow card. And Salzburg used their man advantage to devastating effect with Noah Okafor notching his third goal of the season in the 51st minute - the Red Bulls have always won when the Swiss attacker has been on the scoresheet. Red Bull Salzburg sit seven points clear at the top of the table after nine matchdays.
WSG Tirol 4-2 SV Guntamatic Ried

It was an afternoon of firsts for WSG Tirol as they clocked up their first win of the 2021/22 season in a pulsating game against SV Guntamatic Ried. Thomas Sabitzer’s hat-trick - his first in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga and WSG Tirol’s first ever in the top flight - secured the three points. Stefan Skrbo also enjoyed a remarkable afternoon as the first WSG player to notch up three assists in one Bundesliga game. A day of dreams for Sabitzer, but also a nightmare with an incredible miss from only a couple yards out. Seifedin Chabbi tried his utmost to keep the Upper Austrians in the game with two goals for himself, but it was WSG’s day to celebrate after three defeats on the bounce. They remain bottom, but sit only four points off third spot in an incredibly congested ADMIRAL Bundesliga table.
CASHPOINT SCR Altach 0-4 SK Austria Klagenfurt

SK Austria Klagenfurt rocketed themselves up into third place with a brilliant 4-0 away victory in Vorarlberg. After a few opportunities had gone amiss early, Pape-Alioune Ndiaye set Klagenfurt en route by slicing the ball into his own net six minutes before the break, the first time SK Austria Klagenfurt had benefited from an own goal in the top flight. Florian Rieder made it two early into the second half, his second goal of the season - both of which were assisted by Alex Timossi Andersson. The final two strikes came courtesy of Markus Pink, enjoying a career renaissance with the Carinthians, with his second brace of the season. In his previous seven ADMIRAL Bundesliga seasons, Pink had never scored more than once in a game.
TSV Egger Glas Hartberg 3-4 FK Austria Vienna
Spectators in Hartberg witnessed a seven-goal spectacular as FK Austria Vienna bounced back from their midweek ÖFB Cup disappointment against Kapfenberger SV with a thrilling win. In a blistering start to the game it was 1-1 after only eight minutes as Marco Djuricin and Dario Tadic (his 50th ADMIRAL Bundesliga goal, the 98th player to reach this mark) traded early blows, before Manfred Fischer and Djuricin again - his quickest ever brace - to put the Violets into a 3-1 lead after only 21 minutes played. Donis Avdijaj dragged one back in the eighth minute of first-half injury time, the latest ever first-half goal in a Bundesliga match. Markus Suttner’s first goal in the Austrian top division since March 2015 added a fourth for Austria, but Tadic’s late header wasn’t enough for the Hartbergers as they succumbed to a fourth defeat of the season.
LASK 3-1 FC Flyeralarm Admira
LASK picked up their first ADMIRAL Bundesliga victory since the opening day with a second-half comeback to leapfrog them into the top half of the table. Roman Kerschbaum had put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot, continuing his 100% record from the spot. New LASK head coach Andreas Wieland spurred his team on during the break as Mamoudou Karamoko scored his third goal of the season only two minutes after the restart. Sascha Horvath joined the party with his first Bundesliga goal for the club, although Admira clattered the crossbar via Luca Kronberger for a nervy finish. All doubt was removed two minutes from time as Thomas Goiginger fired in to claim both a goal and an assist for his afternoon’s work.
SK Rapid Vienna 0-3 SK Puntigamer Sturm Graz
SK Puntigamer Sturm Graz became the top scorers of the 2021/22 ADMIRAL Bundesliga season (24 goals) with a stunning away victory at rivals SK Rapid Vienna. Kelvin Yeboah, Jon Gorenic-Stankovic and Ivan Ljubic were all on the scoresheet to keep Christian Ilzer’s men within touching distance of Red Bull Salzburg at the summit of the table. However, it was Rapid who had the ball in the net first but Emanuel Aiwu was denied a maiden goal for the Green and Whites via the linesman’s flag. The Graz side went into half-time ahead via Yeboah’s seventh goal of a fruitful campaign so far, Gorenc-Stankovic added a second mid-way through the second half, and Ljubic’s first of the season - assisted by the ever-impressive Otar Kiteishvili who assisted twice in a match for the first time in 10 months - for an emphatic win in Hütteldorf. The two clubs, both seen as contenders at the start of the season, now sit at opposite ends of the table with Sturm excelling in second, whilst Rapid languish in 11th.
